IDS
AFRICA
Who we are
IDS-AFRICA is led and majority owned by black visionary South African women. The company is rooted in strong values to push forward output and render high quality services, in the plant construction and maintenance industry.
It is the fruitful result of a 2018 commercial transaction between a 100% female owned entity called COMPSES and global plant construction, maintenance and engineering entity IDS South Africa (IDS GMBH).
Together, we pride ourselves in the development, growth and empowerment of the plant engineering sector, our community and people. Ours is an African approach of skill, service and delivery.

We are IDS-AFRICA.

Our team
We aim to render the highest level of service possible to the sector, at all times through our dedicated staff and team.
We boast of a team that is highly skilled, committed, experienced, passionate and driven. We employ mirror welders, specialist welding engineers, engineers, technicians and fitters, whom we provide further training and qualifications on a regular basis. Our workforce team has strong team dynamics and carry out their work with the highest level of integrity. Without our team, we wouldn't be the company that we are today.
We have built a culture of health and safety, underpinned by our SHEQ policies. We’ve gone further
by partnering with other institutions to guide us on the best choices for employee benefits. Life on
site requires a balanced social life regiment, so sports activities and other forms of an active life are
encouraged proactively.
At IDS-AFRICA, we believe in our people and they continually inspire us to elevate higher as a company and service provider.

Nomvula Mabuza
Pioneering, driven and passionate black woman takes on the STEM industry, Nomvula Mabuza.
The Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) field is a traditionally male dominated industry. As a black female, Nomvula Mabuza has taken it in her stride to impactfully address the shortage of female forerunners in this industry.
With a background with firms such as EY - where she consulted, NYDA and SAFCOL, Nomvula has garnered meaningful career experience.
She is currently, excitedly part of IDS-AFRICA, a company operating in the plant engineering sector. *Established in 2018, as a result of a commercial transaction between the 100% black owned COMPSES, with over 12 years plant engineering experience, and international, global engineering IDS GMBH; specialising in plant engineering, pipeline and boiler construction and maintenance with over 47 years international experience.
The company, boasting of a highly skilled technical team, strives to contribute meaningfully toward the country’s energy crisis. Nomvula’s role in IDS-AFRICA is a highly involved one. She manages the daily operations of the business, including daily project sessions with project managers on site, in order to understand the dynamics of each site and its requisite technical solutions for quick response to site issues.
Her daily life entails technicalities such as; equipment, suppliers (sourcing and payments), to employee wellness and also engaging with the clients to chase work orders and outstanding payments.
"My passion is leading the committed engineers on site; ensuring they remain happy and focused on delivering for the client, safely. The full strategic direction and operational success are areas that keep me awake"
Having grown up in a rural area, she saw first hand how our communities get affected by poverty and other social ills. This lived reality informs her drive to positively impact the community.
Nomvula consequently believes in leading from the front. Her commitment to transformation, development and social responsibility is evidenced through IDS-AFRICA’s CSI work with communities around Lephalale. In the past, She also volunteered at Agape Child Care Centre, Kwa-Zulu Natal. An organisation with a heightened focus on assisting children who are orphaned due to HIV/AIDS.
Nomvula is passionate about bringing empowering, inclusive and innovative solutions to African communities. She has a keen interest in independent power production and is focused on the continued growth of IDS-AFRICA.

We face legacy challenges with most of the maintenance work that we have been working on. This has prompted us to find cost-effective methods to continue operations whilst we wait for directions from the clients.
